At the end of each message include a link to the product sales page. When a prospect reads these tips they will be more open to purchasing your product. Sometimes a prospect may purchase right away or on the tenth day. You could even set up your autoresponder to send a new tip every day for one year or set up several autoresponders to sell multiple products.

3. Monitor your success

Most professional autoresponder services enable you to track the open rates of your e-mails and also the number of people who clicked on the links within your e-mails. For instance if you sent a newsletter to a list of 1000 subscribers you’ll be able to view how many people actually read your newsletter and how many clicked on the links.

Disadvantages of Autoresponders

1. Expensive

A professional autoresponder service will charge you a monthly fee. For instance Aweber will charge you $19 each month for 500 subscribers. This fee increases as you get more subscribers or you send out your newsletter more than one time a month. For example if you sent your newsletter to 500 subscribers 4 times a month you’ll need a plan that accommodates 2000 subscribers. If you used Aweber you’ll have to pay $49 each month.

2. Lack of deliverability

If you don’t want to pay the monthly fee for a professional autoresponder you may decide to use a free one. The problem is there is no guarantee your e-mails will get delivered, you may receive spam complaints or the company may go out of business. You probably invested a ton of time and effort into building a list of potential clients so why take the risk of using a free autoresponder service?

3. Unable to write effective follow-up e-mails

It’s easy to procrastinate writing autoresponder messages because it takes a lot of time to write them out. If they are not effective your customers may be turned off and unsubscribe from your newsletters. Even though there are few disadvantages, autoresponders are a necessary marketing tool that enables you to build long-term relationships with your customers and sell multiple products on autopilot.

Traffic brokering is one of the ways you can use to make money online. Examples of these niches are insurance and financial advice. In these niches, you will just refer the prospect to a provider’s site to sign up and be given the advice they seek. Cost Per Action (CPA) affiliate programs usually operate this way and then you are paid for leads generated or when an action taken by the prospect occurs, depending on the provider’s terms of service.

5. The niche is very competitive and the affiliate commissions are high, such as when there are giants in the niche. For example banks, insurance companies, medical businesses etc. Competing with them is usually out of the question. Trying to establish a foothold or gaining recognition in such an environment is also very difficult as this would take a lot of energy. In these cases, you aim for one-off sales that could compensate you nicely. You just need to have a general overview of the niche and then redirect potential customers to these sites where you hope they might buy something.

6. The niche is very popular and therefore overcrowded with customers. This situation usually means that the chance of getting one-off customers is large. Again, you just send potential customers to the affiliate providers’ sites, hoping for a quick sale.

The above situations reveal that traffic brokering should be used as part of your arsenal of money-making tools, as it can be a fast route to generate additional income.

A Turn-Key Product Launch Email Sequence

Product launch campaigns are extremely effective at building excitement and ultimately boosting sales during your launch. New and even veteran marketers often feel overwhelmed with planning a launch, but this tested email sequence will help you succeed with your launch.

You can use this for a product you’ve created – or you can use it for a product you’re planning to create live. If you’re planning to teach live, you can adapt your product as you get feedback during the launch. Even if you’ve already created the product, plan to record a bonus session if you get feedback during the launch – that way you know your product is keyed exactly to what your subscribers want.

Remember, once you’ve taught your live class series, you can turn the recordings into a product. Go back and edit your launch campaign to remove references to the live class, then put it in your autoresponder sequence to create an autopilot, evergreen launch.

Here’s the email sequence outline:

Preselling Email #1: Preselling email

Title this email “What are you struggling with?” and include a few sentences asking your prospect what they’re struggling with in your niche. Something like “What’s your biggest goal in XYZ? What are the 3 biggest things holding you back?” is a good question. Invite your subscribers to hit “reply” and let you know their thoughts. A personal reply is a good idea to build rapport.

Preselling Email #2: Here are the answers to yesterday’s questions…

Highlight a few of the challenges you received yesterday (you’ll probably notice the same big ones came up in many of the replies) and give a brief suggestion for each.

Preselling Email #3: How would it feel to XYZ…

Ask your prospect how it would feel to achieve the results they’ll achieve when they go through your product. For example: “how would it feel to know you could take your dog for a walk without having to worry about her jerking endlessly on the leash?” or “how would it feel to have a real, open conversation about what’s going on in your teenager’s heart?” These questions stir your prospect’s imagination and make them hungry for that result.

Sales Email #1: Here is my brand new XYZ training program (or class, etc.)

This is your main launch email, and it can be a simple paragraph stating you’ve released your product, or opened enrollment for your training program / class series. You can make the hyperlink to the product the same as the headline on your sales page.

Sales Email #2: Q&A About (Product Name)

You’ll likely receive questions about your new product – so you can answer the top 3-4 in this email. Open with “To everyone who has purchased (Product Name), congratulations. I’ve received some questions about the new training (class, etc.):” and list the questions. Be sure to link back to the sales page a few times!

Sales Email #3: Here’s what you get with the new XYZ training program

List out what your prospect gets in the program. Bullet points about the program fit well here – you can pull them off of your sales letter. You can swap Sales Email #2 and #3 if that seems to fit your sequence better.

Sales Email #4: What are you going to miss out on?

Point out something they may miss out on if they don’t sign up for your training now. It can be bonuses, but it’s good to highlight some results they won’t get.

Sales Email #5: Your final chance to get into this program live

If you’re teaching a live program, this email is very effective at getting fence-sitters to buy!

Sales Email #6: The training program was amazing, here’s what you missed:

Send this email the day after the first live session of your training program. You can actually send a recording of the first session along with a message letting them know if they want the next 5 weeks (or whatever the amount is), they can sign up – let them know this is the last opportunity they’ll be able to slip under the table and get in.

Sales Email #7: Final chance to get into the live training with me

Send this “last call” email the day before you run the second session of your live training.

After this one, go back and adapt the presell and initial sales emails for the evergreen product and slot it into your campaign. Future customers will get the campaign and be able to purchase the recordings from you.

Using this sequence generates excitement in your subscribers and results for your launch. Don’t let the launch sequence stop you – outline your training and write your first prelaunch email today and you can use this sequence to guide the rest of your successful product launch.

eBay eBook Success – 5 Ways to Get Subscribers to Opt in to Your Email List

If you have been reading my previous articles then you’re probably aware that I believe that an email list is one of the most valuable tools you can have at your disposal when selling digital products online. In this article I outline how to get subscribers to sign up for your email list.

Before you start getting subscribers you first need a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a simple webpage with a short description and webform with the sole purpose of getting visitors to sign up for your newsletter. Squeeze pages are quite easy to design. Just offer subscribers an incentive to join your newsletter which can include the newsletter itself, a product discount or a free ebook which they will receive once they have joined your newsletter. Then finish off the page with a webform they can use to subscribe to your newsletter That’s all there is to it.

Once you’ve got your squeeze page ready you’re ready to start recruiting subscribers. Below are five methods you can use to start doing just that:

1) eBay About Me Page:- eBay do not allow you to place email sign up forms in your auction listings. However, at the time of writing this article, you are allowed to place a newsletter sign up form on your eBay About Me page. Plus, you can link to your eBay About Me page from your auction listings, so if you want you can place a little advert for your newsletter in each of your eBay auctions. This will then link to your eBay About Me page where visitors will see the form and hopefully subscribe. I personally place a link to my eBay About Me page in the majority of my auctions.

The message that links to your eBay About Me page will vary depending upon the topic of your newsletter. My newsletter is related to selling eBooks on eBay so the link I place in my auctions is as follows: “Want to know how I run this eBay store whilst automating 95% of the tasks? Then Click Here.” Obviously, you should adjust the message according to the topic of your newsletter.

For this method to be most effective your newsletter should be related to the products you sell on eBay. I sell eBooks on eBay so a newsletter related to this is what I provide. If you are selling protein powders a newsletter on building muscles would be more relevant. Alternatively, if you sell cooking supplies perhaps a recipes newsletter would be best.

2) eBooks with Resell Rights:- If you create an eBook related to your newsletter and offer resell rights this is a fantastic way to add subscribers to your list. Simply write the ebook (or alter a PLR ebook) and make sure you have a few links to your squeeze page in the ebook. If the ebook is good and relevant to your list then people will want to join your list as a result of reading it.

The more copies you sell the more subscribers you will get. Plus, by offering resell rights you also increase the potential distribution of your ebook because people who read it may also go on to sell it. Simply put, the more people that read your ebook – the higher the number of potential subscribers.

3) Articles:- Like with ebooks, if you write a relevant article and then submit it to the article directories (http://www.ezinearticles.com/, http://www.goarticles.com/ etc) with a link to sign up for your newsletter in the author resource box, this is another valuable way to add subscribers to your list. For example, if you are running a recipes newsletter, submit a recipe to the article directories. In the author bio box have something alone the lines of “I offer many more great recipes through my newsletter which you can sign up for by Clicking Here.”

4) Blogging:- If you post each edition of your newsletter to your blog and also have a sign up form on the blog, this provides you with another option to gain subscribers to your list. You may be thinking why this would get you extra subscribers because current subscribers will have already read your newsletter won’t they? Well your blog will be picked up in the search engines also, by people searching for topics that you have written about in your newsletter. If these people who came through the search engines like your blog/newsletter they are likely to become a subscriber.

5) Encourage Subscribers to pass your Newsletter On:- Whether you are reading the HTML version or the PDF version of my newsletter you will notice that I encourage you to pass this newsletter on to others. As long as you include a webform or a link to your squeeze page somewhere in the newsletter this is another great way to get more subscribers to your email list. If people like your newsletter enough to pass it on then their friends are probably going to like it enough to subscribe.

So there you go – five ways to get subscribers to opt in to your email list. Now all you have to do is take some action and start building your list. It really is that simple. As long as you provide quality content to your list and don’t bombard them with sales messages this should be the start of a lasting, quality relationship with your customers.

So you have created a great website, you have all the bells and whistle promotions and content, you are ready to kick start your online business and start to make money online. All you need now is traffic, lots and lots of organic traffic. Well just follow the points below and you will be well on your way to attracting big volumes of potential followers & customers.

Consistently create quality content. Try to write and publish as often as possible, but not at the cost of quality! The more quality content you have on your website or blog the more opportunities you create for organic traffic to come your way.

Use social media. Build a presence on social media networks like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc. All of these activities help to get your name out and website address out on the internet. Put in the effort and you will get traffic from it.

Exploit metrics. Use something like Google Analytics to track visitors to your site and blog. Being able to see where they come from and what keywords they searched for allows you to fine-tune your content.

Make sure your site is SEO friendly. The best way to make your website SEO friendly is to create a basic format for all of your pages and posts. When you get into the natural rhythm of writing titles in a certain format and incorporating certain information in the content of the post, SEO tasks will not be heavily time-consuming they will become second nature.

Interlink your pages. Many visitors to your site will initially be blind to your navigation and you will find that the only way to compel them to explore your site further is to include links to related posts directly within your content.

Don’t forget email marketing. Whether you have already build a list or are thinking of building one my advice is ‘do not neglect list building’!! And once you have a list and are blasting out broadcasts be sure to advertise your web page with links attached in your mail.

Include guest articles. Expert opinion is trustworthy. Convince experts to contribute to your articles and you will be surprised how your traffic will increase. Indeed, it will bring to your website a whole extra community who will get familiar with your brand

Offer some freebies. Visitors are always more likely to visit your website if you offer something free. Valuable content is great to drive traffic but giving people the opportunity to try something for free gives you a powerful advantage

Why I Chose to Potentially Lose up to 80% of My Newsletter Subscribers!

I have recently changed the service which I use to send my email newsletter every couple of weeks. This has resulted in all of my subscribers having to re-confirm that they would like to continue receiving the newsletter.

Of course when dealing with moving such a large number of people to a new service (over 40,000 subscribers!), it is inevitable that I would lose some along the way. I am still in the process of moving the list but I anticipated from the start that I would lose as many as 80% of my subscribers BUT, (and this is the thing you might think is weird!), I am totally happy with that.

WHY?

Let me explain…..

Well there are several reasons:

1. I started building this newsletter list in 2001 so many of the emails held on the list are several years old. I am sure that several thousand addresses are ‘old’ and no longer checked by the original user. How many of you have the same email address that you had 5 years ago? I can only estimate how many such addresses I have in my list but for the sake of putting a figure on it, let’s say 15% of addresses are out of date.

2. As I have already stated above, I know that thousands of people were not receiving the newsletter because of the filtering policies of their ISP. I know this because I have had emails on a regular basis from people that have subscribed but never actually got the newsletters. I know I had sent them, they just weren’t getting through. Also, since asking everyone to re-confirm their subscription, several people have emailed to say that they have received the new ‘confirmation’ email despite not having had a newsletter for months. Again, I can only really estimate this figure but based on the information I have, I reckon that as many as 60% of the emails sent could fall into this category.

3. For a variety of other reasons, I know that a large percentage of newsletters sent are never read. For some time now I have been publishing the newsletter as a web page so I know exactly how many emails I have sent out and how many people have gone on to read the newsletter. Let’s say that 10% of emails sent don’t get read for ‘other reasons’.

Based on the figures above, 85% of previous newsletters were either not getting to the intended recipient or were not being read when they did get there. This estimate is supported by the number of web page views each newsletter was getting.

So you can begin to see why I was pretty relaxed about reducing my subscriber list by so many names – there is really no point in sending emails to so many people if such a high percentage are not even receiving/reading them.

Basically I have ‘trimmed the fat’ from my list and now have a smaller (though there are still several thousand of you!) but far more up to date group of subscribers that I know are interested in what I write about and that can actually receive the newsletters when I send them 🙂
