The Advantages and Disadvantages of Autoresponders

Autoresponders are a great help for implementing e-mail marketing strategies. On the other hand if you’re just starting out you may not want to pay the monthly fee for a professional autoresponder. Let’s look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of autoresponders to help you decide.

Advantages of Autoresponders

1. Build and manage a large list of contacts

Any business that is not building a list of contacts is leaving money off the table. If you build a large list of prospects and take care of them you’ll be able to market to them repeatedly throughout their lifetimes. Autoresponders allow you to capture contact information from a sign-up form on a web page and automatically store the information in a database. The database enables you to broadcast a message to your list or send a series of follow-up messages to your list at predetermined intervals.

2. Sell products on autopilot

Did you know that you can set up an autoresponder to automatically sell your products? If you set up your autoresponder correctly it will do the selling for you. For instance, after a person signs up from your landing page send a follow-up message every day for 10 days. Each message should contain a valuable tip on how to use the product. At the end of each message include a link to the product sales page. When a prospect reads these tips they will be more open to purchasing your product. Sometimes a prospect may purchase right away or on the tenth day. You could even set up your autoresponder to send a new tip every day for one year or set up several autoresponders to sell multiple products.

3. Monitor your success

Most professional autoresponder services enable you to track the open rates of your e-mails and also the number of people who clicked on the links within your e-mails. For instance if you sent a newsletter to a list of 1000 subscribers you’ll be able to view how many people actually read your newsletter and how many clicked on the links.

Disadvantages of Autoresponders

1. Expensive

A professional autoresponder service will charge you a monthly fee. For instance Aweber will charge you $19 each month for 500 subscribers. This fee increases as you get more subscribers or you send out your newsletter more than one time a month. For example if you sent your newsletter to 500 subscribers 4 times a month you’ll need a plan that accommodates 2000 subscribers. If you used Aweber you’ll have to pay $49 each month.

2. Lack of deliverability

If you don’t want to pay the monthly fee for a professional autoresponder you may decide to use a free one. The problem is there is no guarantee your e-mails will get delivered, you may receive spam complaints or the company may go out of business. You probably invested a ton of time and effort into building a list of potential clients so why take the risk of using a free autoresponder service?

3. Unable to write effective follow-up e-mails

It’s easy to procrastinate writing autoresponder messages because it takes a lot of time to write them out. If they are not effective your customers may be turned off and unsubscribe from your newsletters. Even though there are few disadvantages, autoresponders are a necessary marketing tool that enables you to build long-term relationships with your customers and sell multiple products on autopilot.

What Is Traffic Brokering and How to Become a Traffic Broker

Traffic brokering is one of the ways you can use to make money online. In simple terms, it means you direct traffic from your promotional content straight to the affiliates’ sites or your own sites which display the affiliate providers’ products. Here you hope that the sales page is convincing and enticing enough to convert the prospect into a buyer.

Although traffic brokering is not seen as ideal because it is a way of making inconsistent income, sales wise it could be very profitable. However, this method is generally seen as inferior to list building, because the latter captures the contact details of the prospect and can result in more future sales. Traffic brokering knows no buyer, only the number of sales. No contact details are recorded so there is no way to contact the buyers and hopefully build a more profitable relationship in the future.

Here are some situations where you can become a traffic broker:

1. You have little or no time to get to know a niche better. A few traffic generation techniques here and there, just to get some sales with little or no effort is what you are aiming for.

2. Your potential customers may be just inquiring in general about a product or service they want to know more about. You can then redirect these potential customers to niche sites offering suitable products. Here you hope that the potential customers get the answer they need in the form of the promotional content outlining the products or services which eventually might earn you a commission.

3. The niche might be new or it might be related to a new trend. You do some quick research for information and affiliate products. You are then able to refer people, asking questions related to these types of niches, to your site or the affiliate provider’s site.

4. Avoiding tax and legal explanations where it is best that you do not get involved unless you are qualified and authorized to give such advice. Examples of these niches are insurance and financial advice. In these niches, you will just refer the prospect to a provider’s site to sign up and be given the advice they seek. Cost Per Action (CPA) affiliate programs usually operate this way and then you are paid for leads generated or when an action taken by the prospect occurs, depending on the provider’s terms of service.

5. The niche is very competitive and the affiliate commissions are high, such as when there are giants in the niche. For example banks, insurance companies, medical businesses etc. Competing with them is usually out of the question. Trying to establish a foothold or gaining recognition in such an environment is also very difficult as this would take a lot of energy. In these cases, you aim for one-off sales that could compensate you nicely. You just need to have a general overview of the niche and then redirect potential customers to these sites where you hope they might buy something.

6. The niche is very popular and therefore overcrowded with customers. This situation usually means that the chance of getting one-off customers is large. Again, you just send potential customers to the affiliate providers’ sites, hoping for a quick sale.

The above situations reveal that traffic brokering should be used as part of your arsenal of money-making tools, as it can be a fast route to generate additional income.

7 Simple Key Principles of Relationship Marketing to Attract Lifetime Customers!

Most of business owners fail to effectively attract and retain lifetime customers. What they fail to realize is the key principles of relationship marketing, that converts potential customers into repeat clients.

To succeed in your business, your main goal should be to build a responsive email list of lifetime customers from your targeted market who trust you, feel grateful to you and value your recommendation.

A good relationship with loyal customers is worth a fortune. That’s the most valuable thing any business can have. The key here is to build your large list of lifetime customers who trust you. Achieve this and you’re set for life.

For that reason you need to learn the key principles of relationship marketing to be able to apply relationship marketing concepts to your web site.

What’s Relationship Marketing?

Relationship marketing is the method of gradually turning website visitors into subscribers and leads them from position to position along a planned program to convert them into life time customers.

Think of relationship building as the foundation to your business. It establishes you as a professional, trust worthy and a consistent source.

7 Key Principles of Relationship Marketing.

Building relationship online is more difficult when compared to offline relationship building. The techniques used are almost the same. But, turning a potential customer into lifetime customer offline is easier due to the nature of the process. In online marketing you can’t meet your clients in person like in offline marketing. But, you can deliver what you want if you think of your potential clients in each step you make when building your business. Relationship marketing is a process, not just a one-time commitment. It starts the moment you think about building a business and continue as long as you stay in.

1 – Know your potential customers.

Before you start building your business; you need to determine your targeted market and know your potential customers. Learn how to know your customers to develop effective tactics for delivering your message to them.

You can start getting to know your customers by taking some very simple steps.

– Determine in advance where your potential customers congregate. – What newsletter they read? – What forums they visit and post to? – What else might do while surfing the net?

The best places where you find your prospects are forums, discussion groups and discussion boards. Visit forums of your targeted market and figure out:

– What’s your potential customers’ problem? What they are looking for? – What kind of business they are involved in? – How they want their problem to be solved? – What words they use?

Only by knowing your customers’ wants and needs you can successfully grow your business and be totally customer-oriented. In order to tailor your marketing and advertising strategies to appeal to the tastes and interests of your market, you must first identify your customer.

Relationship is not only based on knowing who your visitors are, but on knowing your customers’ and prospects’ specific needs.

Note: To attract more subscribers and build a strong relationship marketing the easy way use your prospects words. If you feel their pain and use their words when posting to forums, sending message, etc… they’ll be related to you. You will be one of them; you are not a stranger then they will be likely to trust you and consider your recommendation.

2 – Show your expertise.

The majority of business people, never completely and clearly display their knowledge to potential customers. Show to your targeted market you are the leader in your industry and they will follow you.

People like to learn about your experience. They like to follow the expert’s steps to avoid mistakes and reach success the easy way with less investment in time and money.

3 – Start a dialog to establish trust.

Set up a continuing dialog to establish trust. Trust is a vital step to building long-time relationship. This dialog should starts as soon as your visitors submit information along with their email addresses. This explains their interest in your business. In return, you give them what promised when they subscribed and keep contacts at periodic intervals by sending quality information to your subscribers.

Your goal is to create long term relationships marketing with your subscribers. To do that you must invest time to gather available sources and high quality information and put it at your prospects’ disposal to help them succeed. Remember, maintaining customer enthusiasm and creating customer loyalty is your key to success.

4 – Follow up

Dialog leads to follow-up. Hook your subscribers with your follow up messages series. Set up a series of follow up messages to send quality information to every new subscriber. Professionalism is the key to successful relationship.

The main purpose of follow up is to remain visible to your subscribers so, when the need arise and your prospect wants to make a purchase, your product will be the first one the subscriber thinks of.

If you want to make good money your mission will not cease at selling your product. Going after one sale is worthless. Following up with your customer after the sale is made is a great tactic. This important step will help you strength your relationship, decrease the refund proclamations and keep your customer baying from you again and a gain.

Keep following up; don’t stop and be creative. Don’t send your customers only sales messages. From time to time send free useful product they don’t find elsewhere that can help them make money and/or save time. Send special offers with discount for loyal customers only. Keep them up to date and to the point with latest news, etc…

5 – Offer good customer service.

Some people will start an online business and only focus on what services or products they can sell to make good money. They are not worried about establishing good relationship with their customers and potential clients.

– Answer your prospects’ requests as soon as you receive them.

– Replay to every email within 24 hours with the needed response whether it is a question, concern or simply someone looking for more information.

– Treat your customers right. Even if you offer the best products or services, most customers will evaluate your business by how they were treated while doing business with you. For that reason, it’s important to take care of your customers and give them the best product or service they want.

By providing great customer service to the people you do business with, you will get customers coming back to you again and again to buy your products or services.

Note: If you want to stay in your customers’ minds serve them better. You can do this by collecting information from your customers’ feedback. Having a contacts page on your website with a comments or feedback form will keep you informed about your customers’ wants and problems. If you publish a newsletter, you can also accomplish this by asking for feedback from your subscribers.

This is a great way of making your audience know you care about what they have to say and how important they are to you. When you show interest in your customers you will build credibility and loyalty.

6 – Educate your subscribers.

Put at your customers disposal manuals, frequently asked question (FAQ) web page, articles, etc… to help them learn how to use your product or service perfectly. Educate your subscribers to help them build interest and loyalty for your business.

Lifetime clients want you to be their trusted advisor. The more you educate your customers by offering them a variety of options, the greater your chance to earn their lifetime business. Education strengthens relationship marketing with clients.

7 – Sell or recommend only quality products.

Sell quality products that have value, plus offer a guarantee and stand behind it. One of the quickest ways to destroy a business relationship is selling poor quality products and not standing behind what you promise.

If you want to promote other marketers’ affiliate programs from your website, take the time to investigate the companies you advocate. Promote only products from legitimate companies with solid Internet presence. Remember the companies you suggest will have an impact on your business reputation.

Relationship marketing is the corner stone of every business. If you follow these key principles of relationship marketing, you’ll be on your way to building a responsive opt in email list which will lead to more and better sales.

A Turn-Key Product Launch Email Sequence

Product launch campaigns are extremely effective at building excitement and ultimately boosting sales during your launch. New and even veteran marketers often feel overwhelmed with planning a launch, but this tested email sequence will help you succeed with your launch.

You can use this for a product you’ve created – or you can use it for a product you’re planning to create live. If you’re planning to teach live, you can adapt your product as you get feedback during the launch. Even if you’ve already created the product, plan to record a bonus session if you get feedback during the launch – that way you know your product is keyed exactly to what your subscribers want.

Remember, once you’ve taught your live class series, you can turn the recordings into a product. Go back and edit your launch campaign to remove references to the live class, then put it in your autoresponder sequence to create an autopilot, evergreen launch.

Here’s the email sequence outline:

Preselling Email #1: Preselling email

Title this email “What are you struggling with?” and include a few sentences asking your prospect what they’re struggling with in your niche. Something like “What’s your biggest goal in XYZ? What are the 3 biggest things holding you back?” is a good question. Invite your subscribers to hit “reply” and let you know their thoughts. A personal reply is a good idea to build rapport.

Preselling Email #2: Here are the answers to yesterday’s questions…

Highlight a few of the challenges you received yesterday (you’ll probably notice the same big ones came up in many of the replies) and give a brief suggestion for each.

Preselling Email #3: How would it feel to XYZ…

Ask your prospect how it would feel to achieve the results they’ll achieve when they go through your product. For example: “how would it feel to know you could take your dog for a walk without having to worry about her jerking endlessly on the leash?” or “how would it feel to have a real, open conversation about what’s going on in your teenager’s heart?” These questions stir your prospect’s imagination and make them hungry for that result.

Sales Email #1: Here is my brand new XYZ training program (or class, etc.)

This is your main launch email, and it can be a simple paragraph stating you’ve released your product, or opened enrollment for your training program / class series. You can make the hyperlink to the product the same as the headline on your sales page.

Sales Email #2: Q&A About (Product Name)

You’ll likely receive questions about your new product – so you can answer the top 3-4 in this email. Open with “To everyone who has purchased (Product Name), congratulations. I’ve received some questions about the new training (class, etc.):” and list the questions. Be sure to link back to the sales page a few times!

Sales Email #3: Here’s what you get with the new XYZ training program

List out what your prospect gets in the program. Bullet points about the program fit well here – you can pull them off of your sales letter. You can swap Sales Email #2 and #3 if that seems to fit your sequence better.

Sales Email #4: What are you going to miss out on?

Point out something they may miss out on if they don’t sign up for your training now. It can be bonuses, but it’s good to highlight some results they won’t get.

Sales Email #5: Your final chance to get into this program live

If you’re teaching a live program, this email is very effective at getting fence-sitters to buy!

Sales Email #6: The training program was amazing, here’s what you missed:

Send this email the day after the first live session of your training program. You can actually send a recording of the first session along with a message letting them know if they want the next 5 weeks (or whatever the amount is), they can sign up – let them know this is the last opportunity they’ll be able to slip under the table and get in.

Sales Email #7: Final chance to get into the live training with me

Send this “last call” email the day before you run the second session of your live training.

After this one, go back and adapt the presell and initial sales emails for the evergreen product and slot it into your campaign. Future customers will get the campaign and be able to purchase the recordings from you.

Using this sequence generates excitement in your subscribers and results for your launch. Don’t let the launch sequence stop you – outline your training and write your first prelaunch email today and you can use this sequence to guide the rest of your successful product launch.

eBay eBook Success – 5 Ways to Get Subscribers to Opt in to Your Email List

If you have been reading my previous articles then you’re probably aware that I believe that an email list is one of the most valuable tools you can have at your disposal when selling digital products online. In this article I outline how to get subscribers to sign up for your email list.

Before you start getting subscribers you first need a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a simple webpage with a short description and webform with the sole purpose of getting visitors to sign up for your newsletter. Squeeze pages are quite easy to design. Just offer subscribers an incentive to join your newsletter which can include the newsletter itself, a product discount or a free ebook which they will receive once they have joined your newsletter. Then finish off the page with a webform they can use to subscribe to your newsletter That’s all there is to it.

Once you’ve got your squeeze page ready you’re ready to start recruiting subscribers. Below are five methods you can use to start doing just that:

1) eBay About Me Page:- eBay do not allow you to place email sign up forms in your auction listings. However, at the time of writing this article, you are allowed to place a newsletter sign up form on your eBay About Me page. Plus, you can link to your eBay About Me page from your auction listings, so if you want you can place a little advert for your newsletter in each of your eBay auctions. This will then link to your eBay About Me page where visitors will see the form and hopefully subscribe. I personally place a link to my eBay About Me page in the majority of my auctions.

The message that links to your eBay About Me page will vary depending upon the topic of your newsletter. My newsletter is related to selling eBooks on eBay so the link I place in my auctions is as follows: “Want to know how I run this eBay store whilst automating 95% of the tasks? Then Click Here.” Obviously, you should adjust the message according to the topic of your newsletter.

For this method to be most effective your newsletter should be related to the products you sell on eBay. I sell eBooks on eBay so a newsletter related to this is what I provide. If you are selling protein powders a newsletter on building muscles would be more relevant. Alternatively, if you sell cooking supplies perhaps a recipes newsletter would be best.

2) eBooks with Resell Rights:- If you create an eBook related to your newsletter and offer resell rights this is a fantastic way to add subscribers to your list. Simply write the ebook (or alter a PLR ebook) and make sure you have a few links to your squeeze page in the ebook. If the ebook is good and relevant to your list then people will want to join your list as a result of reading it.

The more copies you sell the more subscribers you will get. Plus, by offering resell rights you also increase the potential distribution of your ebook because people who read it may also go on to sell it. Simply put, the more people that read your ebook – the higher the number of potential subscribers.

3) Articles:- Like with ebooks, if you write a relevant article and then submit it to the article directories (, etc) with a link to sign up for your newsletter in the author resource box, this is another valuable way to add subscribers to your list. For example, if you are running a recipes newsletter, submit a recipe to the article directories. In the author bio box have something alone the lines of “I offer many more great recipes through my newsletter which you can sign up for by Clicking Here.”

4) Blogging:- If you post each edition of your newsletter to your blog and also have a sign up form on the blog, this provides you with another option to gain subscribers to your list. You may be thinking why this would get you extra subscribers because current subscribers will have already read your newsletter won’t they? Well your blog will be picked up in the search engines also, by people searching for topics that you have written about in your newsletter. If these people who came through the search engines like your blog/newsletter they are likely to become a subscriber.

5) Encourage Subscribers to pass your Newsletter On:- Whether you are reading the HTML version or the PDF version of my newsletter you will notice that I encourage you to pass this newsletter on to others. As long as you include a webform or a link to your squeeze page somewhere in the newsletter this is another great way to get more subscribers to your email list. If people like your newsletter enough to pass it on then their friends are probably going to like it enough to subscribe.

So there you go – five ways to get subscribers to opt in to your email list. Now all you have to do is take some action and start building your list. It really is that simple. As long as you provide quality content to your list and don’t bombard them with sales messages this should be the start of a lasting, quality relationship with your customers.

How to Attract Viral Traffic to Your Website

So you have created a great website, you have all the bells and whistle promotions and content, you are ready to kick start your online business and start to make money online. All you need now is traffic, lots and lots of organic traffic. Well just follow the points below and you will be well on your way to attracting big volumes of potential followers & customers.

Consistently create quality content. Try to write and publish as often as possible, but not at the cost of quality! The more quality content you have on your website or blog the more opportunities you create for organic traffic to come your way.

Use social media. Build a presence on social media networks like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc. All of these activities help to get your name out and website address out on the internet. Put in the effort and you will get traffic from it.

Exploit metrics. Use something like Google Analytics to track visitors to your site and blog. Being able to see where they come from and what keywords they searched for allows you to fine-tune your content.

Make sure your site is SEO friendly. The best way to make your website SEO friendly is to create a basic format for all of your pages and posts. When you get into the natural rhythm of writing titles in a certain format and incorporating certain information in the content of the post, SEO tasks will not be heavily time-consuming they will become second nature.

Interlink your pages. Many visitors to your site will initially be blind to your navigation and you will find that the only way to compel them to explore your site further is to include links to related posts directly within your content.

Don’t forget email marketing. Whether you have already build a list or are thinking of building one my advice is ‘do not neglect list building’!! And once you have a list and are blasting out broadcasts be sure to advertise your web page with links attached in your mail.

Include guest articles. Expert opinion is trustworthy. Convince experts to contribute to your articles and you will be surprised how your traffic will increase. Indeed, it will bring to your website a whole extra community who will get familiar with your brand

Offer some freebies. Visitors are always more likely to visit your website if you offer something free. Valuable content is great to drive traffic but giving people the opportunity to try something for free gives you a powerful advantage

Why I Chose to Potentially Lose up to 80% of My Newsletter Subscribers!

I have recently changed the service which I use to send my email newsletter every couple of weeks. This has resulted in all of my subscribers having to re-confirm that they would like to continue receiving the newsletter.

Of course when dealing with moving such a large number of people to a new service (over 40,000 subscribers!), it is inevitable that I would lose some along the way. I am still in the process of moving the list but I anticipated from the start that I would lose as many as 80% of my subscribers BUT, (and this is the thing you might think is weird!), I am totally happy with that.

Let me explain…..

Well there are several reasons:

1. I started building this newsletter list in 2001 so many of the emails held on the list are several years old. I am sure that several thousand addresses are ‘old’ and no longer checked by the original user. How many of you have the same email address that you had 5 years ago? I can only estimate how many such addresses I have in my list but for the sake of putting a figure on it, let’s say 15% of addresses are out of date.

2. As I have already stated above, I know that thousands of people were not receiving the newsletter because of the filtering policies of their ISP. I know this because I have had emails on a regular basis from people that have subscribed but never actually got the newsletters. I know I had sent them, they just weren’t getting through. Also, since asking everyone to re-confirm their subscription, several people have emailed to say that they have received the new ‘confirmation’ email despite not having had a newsletter for months. Again, I can only really estimate this figure but based on the information I have, I reckon that as many as 60% of the emails sent could fall into this category.

3. For a variety of other reasons, I know that a large percentage of newsletters sent are never read. For some time now I have been publishing the newsletter as a web page so I know exactly how many emails I have sent out and how many people have gone on to read the newsletter. Let’s say that 10% of emails sent don’t get read for ‘other reasons’.

Based on the figures above, 85% of previous newsletters were either not getting to the intended recipient or were not being read when they did get there. This estimate is supported by the number of web page views each newsletter was getting.

So you can begin to see why I was pretty relaxed about reducing my subscriber list by so many names – there is really no point in sending emails to so many people if such a high percentage are not even receiving/reading them.

Basically I have ‘trimmed the fat’ from my list and now have a smaller (though there are still several thousand of you!) but far more up to date group of subscribers that I know are interested in what I write about and that can actually receive the newsletters when I send them 🙂

Aweber Paid Autoresponder or Listwire Free Autoresponder?

Autoresponders are special software that respond to emails automatically. These tools are used for email marketing campaigns and to market your products. An important thing to keep in mind while designing this software is to prevent the emails from going into spam. So the question I get asked a lot is should I go for a Paid Autoresponder or Free Autoresponder?

For the purpose of this case study, I will be comparing Aweber (Paid Autoresponder) vs Listwire (Free Autoresponder).

Email list building is an important feature of all autoresponders. They are a vital key for the success of your marketing campaigns. By using Aweber, the biggest advantage that you have is that you get step by step instructions on list building and autoresponders, email marketing, and much more.

The customer service of Aweber is commendable. Also, Aweber makes sure that no spam complaints reach your ISP. This is really important as your ISP may block your IP address if it receives too many complaints. But the fact that it is a paid autoresponder shadows all the Aweber autoresponder benefits. Aweber was a very popular email autoresponder until its free competitor Listwire came along.

List building is done by four methods. List building offers incentives to your visitors for signing up. The key to successful list building includes making the visitors believe that the information you have is hundred percent accurate and genuine. Then the visitors need a reason to remain subscribed to your services and lastly the service should be keen on developing a healthy relationship with the subscriber. This is what list building is all about and what Aweber and Listwire services offer. List building is most useful to the visitors so it can be done two ways. Firstly by sending emails and secondly through broadcasting of blogs. Both methods provide invitations to the readers with every contact.

Listwire autoresponders has most of the features offered by the Aweber services but free of cost. Aweber has a monthly subscription of $19 per month whereas you can avail all the features of Listwire for free. The numbers of subscribers are unlimited on both services but Aweber charges a bit extra for making the subscribers unlimited.

I also feel that comparing the user interface of Listwire and Aweber autoresponder is also important. While creating web forms, there are more personalization options in Aweber. There are many good templates that we can choose from. Also, in Aweber, we can remove the tag that shows that the web form is powered by which company. We do not have that option in Listwire.

An important feature that an autoresponder needs to have is that it should schedule follow ups and successfully send campaigns through email. Both the autoresponders, namely Listwire and Aweber are equally successful in this regard.

Another Listwire benefit is that it integrates perfectly with PopUp Domination. We simply have to copy paste the URL of our web form into the plug in.

These were just some of the comparison areas of the Aweber paid autoresponder vs Listwire free autoresponder. Aweber autoresponder benefits are many but when you see that majority of the benefits are available from Listwire without any charges then you tend to vote for Listwire.

Aweber is great for businesses but for new entrepreneurs, you can start off and learn a lot from Listwire.

However, bear in mind that once you have built your list to a bigger size and decide to transfer, reputable third-party autoresponder services won’t let you import your list from Listwire or any free autoresponder without having them reconfirm. You will likely to lose half to two-thirds of your list in the transfer. Also, prepare to have their own ads send out together with your outgoing emails which could be a turnoff to your list.

List Building Strategies And Tips

If you’ve been searching online for list building strategies and tips, you’re probably feeling pretty overwhelmed right about now. There’s a lot of information out there, and it can get quite confusing. If you’re looking for link building strategies that really work, the following information will help.

A Three-Step Process

There are three primary steps to great list building: creating an opt-in box or lead capture page, getting it out to a large audience and prompting people to sign up. Those three steps are the foundation of today’s best list building strategies, but you need to carry out each step in the right way. Specific details about making the most of each step are outlined below.

Step One: Creating an Opt-In Box or Lead Capture Page

You can’t successfully build a list without creating an opt-in box or lead capture page first. After all, you need to know what people will be clicking on in order to market it properly. There’s a lot of advice out there about completing this step, and it doesn’t really belong in this particular post. At any rate, you’re going to need to design this element before you can dig into the actual list building.

Step Two: Drawing in a Large Audience

In order to build a great list, you need a lot of traffic. It pays to study up on traffic generation tips. If people aren’t coming to your lead capture page, you can’t hope to develop a great list. Fortunately, there are several great ways to bring traffic to your opt-in box. A few of the simplest ones include:

  • Social Media Marketing – It’s free to join and use social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. These sites make it easy to reach out to a huge audience too. Out of all of the list building strategies that I’ll share with you, this one is a no-brainer. Get involved in social media marketing and watch your traffic soar.
  • Article Writing – People go online to get information. Why shouldn’t you give it? Submit articles to online article directories. Include links to your lead capture page on them. Over time, these articles will draw in considerable amounts of traffic.
  • Video Marketing – You don’t need a studio to create a great video. You just need the video to draw people to your lead capture page, so go for it.

Step Three: Compelling People to Sign Up

After getting people to your page, you need to get them to act. To that end, list building strategies and tips like including a free offer or incentive, offering an e-book for download and engaging in cross-promotion are all worthwhile options to consider. It only takes a second for a person to submit their email address, but they need a compelling reason to do so. As with traffic generation tips, there are many possibilities to consider. You can start with something basic like a free sample and branch out later.

By keeping these three important steps in mind, your list building efforts are sure to pay off handsomely. Put them to work right away.
